the minimasjid

I recently had the honor of being featured on an amazing blog by the lovely Marryam Lum from Life of My Heart. It was probably close to the end of Ramadan when Marryam contacted me because she saw some of my work. She was wondering if I would be interested in writing a guest blog post and also doing a collaboration with her. Marryam does gorgeous brush lettering, something I haven't had the patience to tackle as yet, and I was thrilled to work on a piece with her. I showed her samples of my minimasjid series and she agreed that that would be a great subject for the post and mini tutorial.

I was pretty nervous as I went about creating the artwork and trying to document it - I wasn't sure if I was taking enough pictures or the right kind of pictures, but it all worked out in the end with Marryam's awesome editing that goes beautifully with the rest of the website. I also ended up recording some time-lapse videos because I love how they show the process. I need to work on my video-editing skills so I can learn how to add music etc to my stuff, eventually.

Here is the blog post from Life of My Heart. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed working on it and documenting the process. Marryam added some beautiful lettering to the piece later and posted it to instagram. You can see that image here.
